Communities in Castlebellingham, Dundalk and Ardee were left in a state of shock this week following the tragic death of Imelda Smith.
The mother of two died suddenly and there was an out pouring of grief by family and friends of a much loved young woman who was originally from Glenmore Park, Muirhevnamor in Dundalk.
Imelda Smith, nee Treanor, is survived by her husband Gary, two children, parents Tommy and Sadie and her two sisters Annmarie and Catherine.
Online tributes were made to a popular and well liked young woman, with many expressing huge shocking and disbelief at her passing.
A funeral mass was held at The Church of The Nativity of Our Lady in Ardee, before her remains were taken to Glasnevin for cremation.
Castlebellingham based councillor Pearse McGeough said: “I’d like to convey my sympathy and the sympathy of the entire Castlebellingham area to Imelda’s family at this sad time. “
Tributes were lead online on the Quantum Dundalk Photos Facebook page, where she was formerly an employee.
Colleagues expressed shock and sadness at her death and have postponed their reunion as a result of her passing.
