Dundalk Rotary Club will soon be celebrating its 50th Anniversary and is currently embarking on a recruitment drive for new members aimed at re-invigorating the club and have it continue to play a significant role in the life of the community it serves with commitment and distinction.
Acknowledged as the world’s first and foremost service organisation Rotary has almost 30.000 clubs with a membership of around 1.5 million in over 200 countries.
In the belief that commerce and community are not separate entities but totally inter – dependent, Rotary in uniquely placed to harness the energies of thousands of volunteers who wish to make a contribution to both their local and international communities. Through membership of their clubs they serve their communities by devoting time, energy and talent to a whole range of economic, environmental and humanitarian projects.
Projects undertaken locally in recent years by Dundalk Rotary Club include Meals on Wheels; Youth Leadership; Stroke Awareness; Remembrance Tree and their Fund Raising Breakfast Morning which generates much needed support for the efforts of voluntary and community groups. International projects cover Polio Eradication; Jaipur Limbs and the provision of Mobile Hospital Units, Clean Water Supply & Shelter Tents in response to worldwide disasters and humanitarian relief efforts.
Fellowship and Fun as well as Service are at the very heart and soul of Rotary as members enjoy the company of their fellow Rotarians; exchange visits to neighbouring and foreign clubs and participate in a range of social events and outings.
