Carlingford rugby hunk Rob Kearney has been voted Ireland’s best looking rugby player according to new figures.
Kearney beat off stiff competition from Ulster winger Tommy Bowe to claim the crown, as voted for by Ulster Bank.
“Potentially the most important statistic to emerge from the survey – for those in the Ireland camp – came in the form of a vote for Ireland’s best-looking player. It was neck-and-neck at the beginning but, Rob Kearney shot ahead securing 34 per cent of the vote (one in three), while Tommy Bowe stole the hearts of 17 per cent of those surveyed,” said statement released to the press.
Speaking about the Rob topping the poll, rugby ace Alan Quinlan had this to say: “I think Tommy will be hurting having being beaten, by Rob, as the best looking Irish player but, I’m sure Tommy has plenty of followers.”
The survey – which generated over 1,360 responses from every county across the island of Ireland – revealed Brian O’Driscoll as Ireland’s best back of all-time, with a whopping 75 per cent of the vote – fending off Irish rugby greats such as Ronan O’Gara (second 8%), Mike Gibson (third 4%) and Jack Kyle (fourth 2%).
