Oliver for Euro Special Olympics

St. Therese’s athlete Oliver Hanratty is heading for Belgium to represent Ireland at European Special Olympic Games.

Oliver Hanratty qualified to represent his country in the bocce event in September at the European games in Antwerp Belgium.

Oliver is the first athlete from the club to qualify for the European Games and has been attending specialised training in Dublin for the past six months.

He will be in Antwerp for 12 days to compete and he will also get an opportunity to in take in the local sights.

Oliver is no stranger to Special Olympic Games and brought home both Gold and Silver medals from the Limerick Games in 2010.

He also is very involved in the local drama and musical societies and has appeared on stage at the Town Hall on many occasions.

St Therese’s club said they wanted to wish Oliver and his family good luck at the games. St Therese club had a very successful national special Olympics. James Meenan won gold in the 100 and 200 metres. Micheal D’Arcey silver in athletes. Swimmers Liam Maher and Niamh McNally won gold and Frances McAteer silver in bocce.
