Gardaí are investigating the circumstances that led to a young needing urgent medical assistance after being seriously injured in a fight on Park St.

A man in his early 20’s received head injuries and is currently being treated at Beaumont Hospital. Gardai say the injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

A man aged 23 was arrested and conveyed to Dundalk Garda station. Investigations are ongoing. Anybody with information should contact Dundalk Gardai on 0429388400.

Elsewhere a thirty-year-old man was arrested after a stabbing incident in a house at Hackballscross at 2.30am on Monday morning.

A sixty-year-old man was stabbed and received facial injuries. The victim of the attack was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Drogheda but his injuries were not life threatening. This was the second stabbing in Louth within a week. On New Year’s Day there was a fatal stabbing in Drogheda when Wayne McQuillan (30) was killed.
