Local floral artist Veronica McMahon from Knockbridge will be one of the proud demonstrators to demonstrate at the eleventh world flower show in the RDS, Dublin from 18-22 June.

Veronica, who is a member of Ardee Floral Art Club and a qualified teacher, demonstrator and judge with the Association of Irish Floral Artists, will speak on the Boyne Valley and artistically interpret through flowers the ‘Midwinter Solstice at Newgrange’.

This is the first time Ireland has hosted this spectacular event. “Irish flower arrangers have travelled to flower shows around the world and built up strong relationships with their international colleagues and are highly respected,” said show president Kitty Gallagher. She also reckons that Ireland’s superb reputation as a tourist destination was also a key factor. The RDS will host a full selection of trade stands from Irish and international exhibitors along with Irish and international demonstrations, lectures, social evenings, tours to leading public and private gardens and over 600 floral art competitions from 26 countries. The show is expected to generate up to €10m for the local economy. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
