Knockbridge Vintage Club to hold their big road run

If you have a vintage vehicle, why not take it out and be part of something great!

Knockbridge Vintage Club are holding their annual Road Annual Road Run takes this Sunday 13 July.

The Road Run is starting at 2 o’clock from Knockbridge Community Centre.

Vintage cars and tractors are all welcome to attend the Road Run to Blackrock beach where the vintage vehicles will park on the beach for all to see.

After the stop-over, the convoy will then return to the Community Centre for some refreshments and entertainment.

Anyone with a vintage bicycle is invited to join in for a short cycle around the village!

These were a new welcome addition to the Road Run in recent times and indeed add to the nostalgia.

All monies raised on the day will go to local charities.

Knockbridge Vintage Club annual road run is one of the highlights of local summer festivals. All are welcome to come dressed in the old world look.

The Knockbride Vintage Club hold many attractions including a wonderful Vintage Rally and Fun Day in the mid-louth village.

There is lots to keep everyone entertained, be they young or old, and a very enjoyable family day out is guaranteed.

Attractions have included a large vintage tractor and car display while a number of threshing mills will be busy threshing oats all day.

The skill of horse ploughing are demonstrated while in an adjacent field vintage tractor ploughing takes place. Binders, reapers and vintage combines cut the barley and they’ve even had a vintage army display which has proved a popular attraction.

Patrons have been invited to have a flutter on the sheep racing. This has been one of the highlights of the show as everyone enjoys the spectacle of the “wooly jumpers” hurdling their way towards the line.

The dog show always attracts a large number of entrants as proud owners show off their pooches in the hope of winning a prize.

The tug of war proved very popular each year.

There always has been plenty to keep the children entertained with bouncy castles, face painting, puppet shows, an animal farm and other novelty events.

Live music gets everyone in the mood with something to suit all tastes.
