Housing Rents collection investigation concludes

Last night County Manager, Ms. Philomena Poole advised the members of Dundalk Town Council that the investigation in regard to the housing rent collection was complete and the disciplinary process has concluded.

Ms Poole made the announcement at the Dundalk Town Council’s monthly meeting which was held last night (Tuesday, 22 April).

It was also confirmed that a formal complaint on the matter had been made to An Garda Síochána.

An investigation was launched after irregularities were uncovered in relation to rent collection in a specific location in Dundalk over a three year period.

A member of staff was suspended and an internal investigation was launched.

It is believed that the total disputed rent arrears was in the region of between €5,000 and €10,000. At least three cases of alleged irregularities were investigated.
