These two families welcomed some of the first babies of 2014 into the world on New Year’s Day.
Debbie and Gavin O’Connor finished cleaning their pub, McBrides in Castlebellingham, after the New Year’s Eve celebrations when Debbie’s waters broke.
“It was a great start to the year,” chuffed dad Gavin told The Dundalk Democrat, “We had a great night in the bar on New Year’s Eve. There was a great crowd and a great band playing.
“We finished cleaning the pub around 6.30am on the 1st January. About three hours later Debbie’s water broke and we had to rush to the hospital.
He added:“It was a good job that we were at home and it wasn’t in the pub!”
Ben Patrick Connor was born six days early at 11.19pm on New Year’s Day and weighed 8lb 9oz.
Older siblings Darren (14) and Eirn (5) are excited about Ben’s arrival.
“They are delighted,” said Gavin, We are all very happy. Mother and baby are healthy.”
Ben was the last baby born on the 1st January 2014.
Jemma Murphy gave birth to little Mason Campbell at 2.10pm on New Year’s Day.
Although Mason was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, he is doing well and is a healthy baby.
“Mason is doing fine,” said proud mum Jemma, “We got home on Sunday evening and it’s been exciting.
“Daddy Mark Campbell is chuffed along with older sisters Jessica and Abbey.”
