Government fund for housing estates

Louth County Council is being encouraged to apply to a special €10m fund set up by Government to clean up unfinished housing estates.

Labour Senator Mary Moran is advising the council to submit funding proposals to the Department of the Environment before 28 February 2014, outlining the issues facing the most problematic estates-and the detail of the funding requirements.

“Unfortunately, we still have a problem with unfinished housing estates in Louth but thankfully my colleague, Labour Housing Minister Jan O’Sullivan, secured a special fund of €10 million in Budget 2014 with a view to specifically tackling the most problematic unfinished estates.

“This special fund is designed to address deficiencies in public infrastructure.”
