Gardai investigate Blackrock crash

Residents in Blackrock awoke on Tuesday to find a sizeable dent in the railings of one the main building on the promenade.

The incident occured on Monday night when a vehicle collided with the wall of the Blackrock Medical Centre, buckling the railing and leaving a bumper shaped hole in the wall.

Staff at the medical centre were declining to comment on the incident on Thursday, while local Cllr Linus English had said that he had seen the damage but was not aware what had caused it.

A Garda spokesman told the Dundalk Democrat that a jeep type vehicle had crashed into th e front of the building at 4am, early on Tuesday morning.

The incident was reported to Gardai the next day.

Gardaí know the identity of the owner of the vechicle.

The driver is believed to have lost control of the vehicle before it drove into the medical centre.

Investigations are ongoing into the incident.
