It was a memorable day for St Brigid’s School as Minister Quinn cut the ribbon on the external lift. The project ensures universal access for all pupils throughout the school and the design received high praise from Minister Quinn.

The whole school was addressed by the Minister who complemented the pupils on the happy learning atmosphere that was obvious throughout the school. Minister Quinn also affirmed the professional commitment of the staff supporting the pupils as they learn skills that will stand to them throughout their lives.

St Brigid’s school have been pursuing a major literacy initiative with the fantastic support of the Parents and Friends Association through the purchase of €5,500 worth of new books. First year were celebrating the successful completion of their 6 week reading challenge with a coffee morning in the staffroom and Minister Quinn was fortunate enough to be able to join them. The pupils pointed out the key points of interest in their favourite books and that boys and girls often like different types of books.

The anti bullying programme pursued by the school and viewed some of the amazing art work produced in response to the awareness raising campaign. The prize winning poster caught the eye of Minister Quinn and Senator Moran. Senior cycle students exhibited their craft products as they prepare for the Christmas Fair. They outlined the difficulties in product development and keeping quality standards.
