Christmas is well and truly over as today see’s the packing up of Dundalk on Ice at the Market Square.
The ice rink has been operating since the end of November and was hoping to attract up to 30,000 people, thanks to an improved skating experience and a reduction in ticket prices from last year’s event.
Another important aspect of the ice rink was it’s repositioning which made it possible for markets to continue to be held on the Market Square.
The ice rink also held a number of special themed skating sessions such as Disney and One Direction evenings which proved to be very popular.
Dundalk BIDS, Dundalk Town Council and numerous town centre businesses and associations came together to sponsor the initiative and the company who supplied the rink, also supplied the London Olympics and Harrod’s rooftop ice rink.
A spokesperson said “We would like to thank you for skating with us over the festive season and wish everyone a Happy New Year. See you next Christmas.”
