Dundalk No Household Tax to survey councillors

Anti-austerity group ‘Dundalk No Household Tax’ has delivered a letter to councillors this week to ask them to nail their colours to the mast on where they stand on the household tax. water charges and other austerity measures.

The Local Election Doorstep Challenge presented to the newly elected Councillors and at their inaugural meeting held in the County Hall ,Millennium Centre,Dundalk on Friday last .

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat, Garrett Weldon said they intend to hold the new councillors to account on these issues.

“Once councillors have made their positions known on these important issues we will be posting the results to Facebook, so that the public can see where they stand.”

In the letter given to the councillors, the group say: “we wish to advise that the details of the returns f the, door step challenge will be used in our campaign, to resist these punitive taxes.

“We intend to canvass, to make people aware of where the elected councillors stand, on the important questions which affect peoples lives. We intend to list replies on our facebook, and web page,

“If we receive no reply from any candidate, this will be listed under the heading of: unable, unwilling, or afraid to reply.”
