The Dundalk Democrat visited St Vincent’s Secondary School to find out how both Junior and Leaving Certificate students found English Paper 1.

Most students exited the exam hall with a smile. It is always great to get the first exam under your belt after all the hype.

Shannan Norton was happy how her exam went. “It was a good exam. There was no surprises. I think I done very good.”

Her friend Nicole Cahill said that “it was easier” than she expected as she went home smiling.

Michelle McClusky echoed other students, saying that the exam was good.

Sophie Daly was also another cheerful student. “I could have done better, but I am happy. The comprehension was the same as the pre-exam, so that was good.

Time is everything in English, as highlighted by Leaving Certificate student Amy McDonald.

“It was a fair exam. Timing was hard as there is so much to complete. But I am confident,” said Amy.
