Louth County Council have issued a flood warning today (Tuesday) ahead of an expected tidal flood this afternoon at 2.30pm.
In statement issued at 11.40am, Louth County Council said: “There is a particular risk predicted for the evening tide period today Tuesday 4th February.
“The natural cycle of High Tides for today for Dundalk is predicted for 2.31pm hours.
“A Tidal Surge & strong Southerly /South-Easterly winds are predicted today. These factors combined will increase the tide levels over the natural tide levels. A weather warning code level Orange is in place for County Louth valid from 15:01 Tuesday 4th February until 09:00 Wednesday 5th February 2014
“During this period, prior to and after these tides, there is a high risk of Tidal Flooding in the Blackrock, Dundalk and Bellurgan area.
“Louth County Council urges the public to take due care and to exercise extreme caution in the event of flooding.
“Householders and Businesses should take Precautionary Measures to protect property.”
