Assault case adjourned

Judge James Faughnan adjourned to see how the victim of an assault was doing after he hit his head off a kerb.

Dundalk Court heard that he was twice punched in the side of the head in a fight at Rockfield Manor and caused him to fall back .

Christopher Blaney (22) from Wilkinstown, Navan was before the court on an adjourned charge of assault causing harm.

Garda Inspector Brendan Cadden recounted that a row took place between a number of men and women on March 6 last year during which the victim received an injury to the back of his head. He received treatment in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and had very little recollection of the incident.

The defendant admitted striking him when they were fighting.

The defence barrister said her client had co-operated with Gardai at all times.

Judge Faughnan asked how the victim was, and Inspector Cadden replied they could have him in court the next day.

The Judge put the case back to June 18th to obtain a report on the victim.
