AN appeal has been launched for any information leading to the recovery of two watches of immense sentimental value which were taken from a house at Wallace’s Road, Blackrock during a burglary over the weekend.

The burglary took place between the hours of 11am last Friday and 5pm last Saturday evening at the home of Ian and Anita Carroll, who suffered this cruel blow only weeks after losing their son Stephen Caroll (38) who tragically passed away from cancer before Christmas.

Stephen was a well-known businessman and he and ran Carroll’s Newsagents and Hallmark

Most heartbreaking of all was the loss of two of Stephen’s most personal possessions, two Omega watches which he had received for his 21st and 30th birthdays and had left for his two young sons, Senan (10) and Keelan (8) to inherit.

Both watches are engraved, one with ‘To Keelan love Daddy x’, and the other with ‘To Senan love Daddy x’.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of these watches is asked to contact any member of the Carroll family or Dundalk Gardaí.

Full interview with Stephen’s wife Breffnie Caroll and sister in law, Kerrie Carroll in this week’s Dundalk Democrat which will be in shops early tomorrow morning.
