Dundalk Musical Society is preparing to take the stage once again with their latest offering “Fiddler on the Roof”.
The musical will open on Wednesday 15 October and run until Sunday, 19 October at 8pm nightly in An Tain Theatre.
Set at the beginning of the twentieth century, the story centres around Jews and Orthodox Christians who live in the little village of Anatevka in the pre-revolutionary Russia of the Czars.
The show features Jim McGuigan as milkman Reb , Karyn McCooey as Golde, Maeve Montgomery as Yente, Gerry O Hara as old widow butcher Lazar Wolf, Paudie Breen as the poor tailor Motel Kamzoil, Alan Doherty as the revolutionary student Perchik, Niamh Craven as Chava, Patrick Browne as Christian Fyedka and other well known faces such as Tim Ahern, Jack Montgomery, Paul McGee, Phyllis Woods, Geraldine Casey, Sean Og Cairns and Brian Halpin. Direction is in the very capable hands of Tullamore native Colin Hughes whose reputation has led him to direct for societies all over the country, Gilda Turner take charge of choreography and has been putting the cast through their paces for the last eight weeks.
