terrorised the occupants into handing over a substantial sum of money.

The shocking ordeal began on Sunday evening last when raiders broke into the house at Belfry Gardens, off the Avenue Road, at 8pm and threatened a couple and the three children who were in the house at the time.

The raiders forcibly entered the house after brazenly calling to the front door.

A van was later found burned out at Dunleer and was examined by gardai.
