Two 12 month sentences were imposed on an 18 year-old youth for two separate assaults earlier this year where he attacked his victims at night at their homes, striking one with a bottle.
Brendan Cummins of Lios Dubh, Armagh Road is already serving further sentences, having amassed a considerable number of convictions in a short period of time Dundalk District Court heard.
Garda Inspector Martin Beggy outlined that on July 27th last one of the victims was awoke by banging on the front door. He went to the door. The defendant pushed his way in and hit the man several times causing him to fall against the stairs. He suffered a laceration over his forehead which required stitches..
The other assault occurred on September 11th at 12.30am. A man heard a scream when his girl friend went out for a cigarette. When he went outside the defendant threw a bottle and he was hit on the forehead and had steri strips applied.
The Inspector said the defendant was under suspended sentences when the assaults occurred.
Defence solicitor Niall Lavery asked Judge Brennan to give the defendant credit for an early plea. Happily the injured parties had recovered and the defendant offered an apology.
