Louth shocked by tragic death of a
great SVP man who served society

The death of Michael O’Keeffe, Crossakiel, Kells, County Meath on Friday 9 August, caused shock and sadness here in Louth. One of the best known figures in the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP), Mr O’Keeffe died following an accident on his farm. He had been President of the SVP’s North-East Regional Council.

He will be particularly remembered for encouraging the establishment of the new Vincent’s shops throughout the north-east. There are now 25 in the region.

The clothing re-cycling project is another example of his commercial expertise for the benefit of the society.
