THERE was relief in Glenmore Park in Muirhevnamor this week after a fly-tipping site that was accumulating was finally cleared up.
According to residents the site started off as a problem over a year previously.
Glenmore Park resident Phyllis Murray told the Democrat that it was becoming unbearable for local residents.
“When people first started dumping there we told the council that we would bag it, if they would collect it. That never happened.”
In last few weeks Phyllis , who has been living in Glenmore for 34 years, and others have launched a campaign to have the rubbish removed, and a picture put up on social media website Facebook demonstrated how bad the problem had become.
“It’s was terrible. There was a dreadful smell coming from it and there were rats the size of cats attracted the area. One young couple had to keep their back door locked because of them.”
Workers from the council came around on Thursday morning and cleared the dump, much to the relief of local residents.
