One of the most supremely talented comedians working today, Reginald D. Hunter, brings his highly-acclaimed act to Ardee Laughs on Tuesday April 9.

He is also the well-known face on primetime television shows such as 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Never Mind The Buzzcocks and QI and is a frequent guest on Have I Got News For You.

He has recently appeared in Argumental for Dave Channel and Would I Lie To You for BBC1.

He also starred alongside Andy Hamilton in BBC4’s It’s Only A Theory and appeared in the New Years Day episode of the hugely popular Live At The Apollo (BBC1).

He has headlined festivals across the country including The Electric Picnic, Vodafone Comedy Festival, The Cat Laughs, Galway Arts Festival and Galway Comedy Festival.

His Ardee date follows a very successful year for this internationally popular comedian, which included two sell-out tours of the UK, a sold-out season at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and the release of his debut stand up DVD ‘Reginald D Hunter Live’.

Having initially travelled to the UK at the age of 27 as a classic theatre student training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Hunter became a comedian after performing his first comedy set as a dare.

Realising he enjoyed it, and there was money in it, Hunter diverted his attention from his acting ambitions and re-focused on stand-up.

He often deals in his stand-up with everyday issues and relationships that he feels important.

Controvesially he says he is attempting to reclaim the word “Nigga” and often uses the term in the titles of his shows.

Reginald D Hunter: Pride & Prejudice... & Niggas attracted some controversy, and the poster was banned from the London Underground.

Likewise his tour with Steve Hughes, called Trophy Nigga, played 55 venues around the UK, yet not all the venues would use the tour title.

He joked it was because promoters didn’t like the word, ‘Trophy’.

He is currently touring Ireland with his new show ‘ a work in progress...& Niggas’. Due to start touring the UK in April,

There are limited tickets available for the Ardee Laughs gig at Bogger’s Lounge.

They are available from the venue or from www.ticketmaster.ie for 20 euro.
