A well-known local hairdresser is in the race to feature on RTE’s Operation Transformation in the New Year.

Ruth McEneaney, 28, is one of the final twenty contestants battling to become a leader on the show to vanish her bad habits.

Ruth says that her colleagues in Chaplins Hairdressers encouraged her to send in an application.

“I was thinking about doing it for a while,” Ruth told The Dundalk Democrat, “I was unsure and the girls I work with said that I should apply.

“I sent an application to RTE and I didn’t expect that I would get a reply. Now I am in the last twenty contestants remaining.”

This week presenter Kathryn Thomas will travel to the homes of the five selected leaders.

Ruth is hoping to be one of the final candidates.

She said: “I am up for the challenge. I know the amount of work that will be involved, but I want to get my life back on track. I am ready for Operation Transformation.”

Ruth has been smoking since the age of 12 and although she’s asthmatic, Ruth still puffs up to 15 a day.
