Many shoppers may have noticed the closed shutters of A-wear in the Marshes shopping Centre today.
News has just broke that A-wear stores around the country have closed as the company goes into receivership.
Earlier today receiver, Ken Fennell of Kavanagh Fennell, was appointed to the A-wear chain of shops after the company failed to exit examinership.
The company had been trading under the protection of an examiner since October 8, with a view to restructuring the business to put it on a sustainable footing.
The company employs a total of 358 staff in 31 stores across the country and in it’s head offices in Dublin.
High rents and increased competition have been listed as the causes for the companies difficulty.
A decision will be made tomorrow as to which stores will remain open.
