Local Dundalk woman, Lisa Marmion had her head shaved in aid of Temple Street Hospital last week in the Lisdoo Conference Centre.
After learning that her sister-in-law, Sharon Manning was running the New York Marathon for Temple Street she decided to help raise funds herself.
Lisa told the Democrat about she came to the decision to shave her head.
“I wanted to do something different, something that would generate a lot of income for Temple Street.
“I choose to do the head shave as it involved a sacrifice and I felt that people would feel it was worth donating their money for.”
Not long after Lisa decided to shave her head her daughter was admitted to Temple Street with a rare form of tonsillitis.
She recovered and is well again now but Lisa said that the staff at Temple Street were amazing and thoroughly committed to giving the best of care to their patients.
When asked she has been feeling since and what reactions she has gotten from people Lisa told us she was feeling “cold!”.
“I’ve been wearing a hat since! But really it’s a small sacrifice to make, I just feel blessed that I have a great family and three healthy children and I’m proud that I was able to do it.”
So far Lisa has raised 5,000 euros for the well deserving charity.
“The final numbers haven’t been added up yet but it’s definitely at the 5,000 mark and I believe it may even go over that.”
