Over 100 business delegates attended a Cross Border Business Support Expo hosted by Dundalk Chamber of Commerce in association with Newry Chamber of Commerce & Trade and supported by Eures Cross Border Partnership & InterTradeIreland on the 7th November in the Carrickdale Hotel.

Dundalk Chamber was delighted with its success in terms of numbers of delegates attended, networking opportunities created and the opening of communication channels between local businesses and Support Agencies.

All the Business Support Agencies catering for the needs of businesses located within the Newry-Dundalk region exhibited at the unique event.

The aim of the event was to provide a forum where local businesses could speak to all relevant business support agencies in one morning, on a one-to-one basis, under one roof.

The event provided small businesses with an opportunity to network at the event and for business support agencies to foster closer relationships with other agencies.

There is an array of business support programmes currently offered to small businesses; however, there is some confusion within the business community about where to look for support and exactly what businesses can avail of it.

In this challenging economic climate local businesses need to take advantage of all appropriate support opportunities open to them.

Mr Paddy Savage, Operations Manager, InterTradeIreland, stated,

“Cross-border trade presents businesses with an invaluable opportunity to increase their sales, develop new markets and benefit from all-island expertise and innovation.”

Orla Jackson, Chief Executive of Newry Chamber of Commerce also commented on the event stating that,

“Due to the success of last year’s inaugural Business Support Expo, we were delighted to co-host this joint Chamber Cross Border event with InterTradeIreland once again.

Over 40 Business Support Agencies catering for the needs of businesses located within the region exhibited at this Expo; exhibitors included;

InterTradeIreland, Invest NI, Newry & Mourne District Council, Business Support Unit of Louth County Council, Enterprise Ireland , Southern Regional College, Regional Development Centre, EURES, Employability Louth.
