HMV is to reopen at least four shops creating 100 jobs, however the Dundalk store of HMV in the Marshes Shopping Centre is not among the branches reopening.

Restructuring company Hilco Capital is understood to be in talks with landlords attempting to renegotiate rents and hope to re-establish further HMV outlets in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Limerick.

Retailer DV8 Fashions are due to open a new store where the HMV premises used to be in the Marshes Shopping Centre and will sell brand names such as Adidas, Calvin Klein, Converse, Lacoste, Vans, Wrangler, Lipsy, Vero Moda and more.

It was also announced just yesterday (Tuesday) that Ernst and Young, Joint Receivers of Ireland’s leading film retail and rental brand, Xtra-vision Limited, have completed the sale of the business and its assets to a number of companies backed by Hilco Capital for an undisclosed sum.

It is hoped that the sale of the business will help to safeguard jobs across Ireland and of course in Dundalk’s Xtra-vision store at the Longwalk Shopping Centre.
