This May bank holiday weekend, the Dundalk Market Square will transform into an exhibition of the best of local business and tourism provision.

Dundalk TCCM and Tourist Office, in conjunction with Dundalk BIDS, are hosting a two-day event with a local Business Expo on Friday, May 3 and Louth Tourism Expo on Saturday, May 4.

The local Business Expo will showcase Dundalk’s business community and is expected to attract a diverse audience.

It will create a platform for traders to present their products, services and business ideas to the general public.

“It’s an opportunity to create awareness for local businesses and increase the number of potential new customers through their doors,” said Fiona Cunningham from the Town Centre Commercial Managers Office.

“We want to do everything that we can to encourage a vibrant economy that encourages small-business growth and sustainability.

“The Tourism Exhibition on Saturday, May 4 is to create awareness not only for visitors to Dundalk, but also to the local residents.

“The theme for the ‘Tourism Expo’ is ‘What’s on your Doorstep’ and we would like to invite a range of tourism providers from Dundalk, and the surrounding area, to take a stall at the event.”

Sinead Roche, Tourist Officer for Dundalk revealed that large numbers of local people have been calling into the Tourist Office to get information for visiting friends, relatives and business associates over the past six months.

“I’m not sure if it’s The Gathering that’s influencing them, but they want to be really prepared for the arrival of their visitors and often post information overseas long before the visit takes place, “ Sinead said.

“As they find out about all the great things to see and do right here on our doorstep the reaction is always the same – they had no idea that there was so much to do i gContae Lú.”

The ‘Tourism Expo’ is also a great opportunity to promote your business to local families looking for different activities/ events to entertain the 0-16yr olds over the summer holidays.
