From Monday until Friday the pupils of the Boys Redeemer School are hosting an Olympics week in honour of the upcoming Olympics in London

In preparation for the event the children have been studying the history of the Olympics and have painted their own t-shirts and flags representing various countries that will partake in the Olympic games.

Every class from junior infants to sixth class will be participating in the event as the staff wanted to place an emphasis on inclusion and teamwork and there is a total of 20 teams.

Throughout the week they will all compete in various games such as running, athletics, gymnastics and other Olympic related sports.

To start the week off there was an Olympic Opening Ceremony on Monday morning which all the children attended dressed up in their newly created t-shirts with their flags and Olympic torches.

On Friday they will hold the finals and have a closing ceremony where the winning teams will receive medals and every child will receive a prize for taking part.
