Louth is set to come alive in a celebration of Bealtaine, the festival for older people and the arts, celebrating creativity and ageing, which takes place throughout May.

Louth is set to come alive in a celebration of Bealtaine, the festival for older people and the arts, celebrating creativity and ageing, which takes place throughout May.

Louth County Libraries will also be a focal point for activities under the banner of Celebrating Creativity As We Age. All library events are free but places are limited.

Starting the festival off in Dundalk Library is a flower arranging workshop on Thursday, May 2 at 10.30am.

There will be a six week course of European classical drawing classes starting on Friday, May 3 at 10am. Please note that materials are not supplied and if possible bring along an easel, charcoals, pastels and pencils.

On Tuesday, May 7 at 10 am there will be a quick and easy paint transformations for your home workshop which will teach participants painting techniques to revamp old furniture.

You will be able to learn the ‘ins and outs’ of text messaging and get the most from your phone. with mobile phone classes on both Wednesday and Thursday, May 8 and 9 at 2pm. Please bring your mobile phone.

The Bealtaine Table Quiz will take place on Thursday May 23 at 2.30pm. All are welcome and there will be spot prizes and refreshments.

Mean while in Ardee Library there will be a chair yoga and relaxation class on Tuesday, May 7 at 11am which will teach gentle exercise to loosen joints and on Wednesday, May 8 there will be a flower arranging demonstration at 10.30am.
