LOCAL singer/songwriter Stewart Agnew embarks on a mini-tour this week, which will conclude with his first headline appearance in the revamped Spirit Store this Saturday April 6.
Before then the Dowdallshill native will also perform in Newry, Dublin and Ardee as he prepares to release his new single ‘Laces’ and the special edition of his third studio album ‘Hello Bright Spark’ – which reached number 14 in the Irish charts when it was released last year.
Stewart will be joined at his gigs by his full band, which is comprised of guitarist Justin Lawless, bass player Ken Murphy and drummer Phil Wilkinson.
The mini-tour gets underway on Wednesday night when he performs in the Amplified Bar in Newry. He then moves on to the Odessa Club in Dublin on Thursday, followed by a performance in Boggers Lounge in Ardee on Friday.
He will then play his first hometown gig of 2013 when he headlines The Spirit Store in Dundalk on Saturday, with tickets for that gig currently on sale for €12.50 from both the venue and The Food House in Clanbrassil Street.
It will be Agnew’s first time headlining the Store since it reopened last December and he admits he is looking forward to the experience.
“The new venue is superb and I’m really looking forward to headlining it, especially with the band behind me.
“I’ve supported a couple of people there already so I know what a great space it is and hopefully it will be a brilliant night.
“I’m hoping that the new single goes down well and I’ll have hard copies of the special edition of the album on sale as well for the first time and it will include a bonus track,” he said.
Doors for all of Stewart’s gigs open at 8.30pm with support for his Spirit Store performance being provided by Drogheda singer Saoirse Kavanagh.
Agnew will play in The Amplified Bar, Newry, on Wednesday, April 3 (tickets £8 , Odessa Club, Dublin on Thursday, April 4 (tickets e10), Boggers Lounge, Ardee, on Friday, April 5 (tickets €8 ).
