The 3rd annual Inniskeen Country Fest was officially launched this week.
The Inniskeen Grattans club are delighted to announce that once again McArdle Skeath are the main sponsor of the event.
The country fest has grown dramatically since its inaugural year in 2011.
Organising committee secretary Paul Meegan says that country music is now very popular and this year’s event could see 3,000 people attending over the whole weekend.
“Every year we have tried to improve our line-up, and this year is no different,” Paul told the paper.
On Friday May 3rd, the legend Declan Nerney will take stage at 10pm.
Nerney started performing at the age of 16 in local band the The Hi-Lows.
His big break came with his autobiographical song ‘The Marquee in Drumlish’.
Nerney has a huge following, and charts on a regular basis not only in Ireland, but also in Scotland and England and, his recordings are sought worldwide.
Local band Setanta will headline on Saturday night and on Sunday night, Irelands leading country singer, Mike Denver will perform live on stage from 10pm.
Denver recorded his first album in 2003 with his first big hit being ‘Spread my wings and fly’.
Last year, Denver was delighted to receive the award for ‘Vocalist of the year’ at The Country Music Entertainment Awards Show. Denver has won the award two years in a row.
In addition to this year’s event, they are running a fabulous Family Fun Day on Monday, May 6, in aid of SOSAD Ireland.
Music will also follow from 4pm-7pm to close off the Country Fest.
