Two men were seen throwing power tools over a fence at an ESB station at Ballykelly in September 2009, Dundalk Court heard.
One of the men, Bernard Joyce (36), Aghameen Park was charged with theft. He was also charged with entering the Rank Xerox building with intent to commit an offence. Property worth e2,400 had been recovered. The court was told defendant had seven previous convictions.
Solicitor Frank McDonnell said that his client had not been in trouble for 11 years. Judge Flann Brennan ordered defendant to perform 100 hours community service.
Oliver McDonagh (37), Oaklawns was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment (suspended for 12 months) for entering the Rank Xerox building with intent to commit an offence. The court heard he had 63 previous convictions.
