CILLIAN Moran, son of Dundalk’s Senator Mary Moran, acted as flagbearer for the Irish team at the European qualifier against Estonia at the Aviva stadium.

His mum says Cillian was absolutely delighted and honoured to be selected to be one of four lucky children to carry the national flag and enjoyed waving to the crowd before the match.

He was thrilled to meet all the Irish players and indeed had a great chat with Damian Duff before the game, when Cillian gave the Irish star some sound advice.

All the Moran family: Damian, Mary, Tara, Conor, Sadhbh, Deirbhile, were at the match to see Cillian proudly raise the Irish flag and help the Irish team to sing the national anthem. “I would like to express my extreme gratitude to John Delaney,” Senator Moran said, “and his wonderful staff at the FAI for affording Cillian this unforgettable experience and a night we will all treasure, particularly as we assured our place for the Euro 2012 finals.”
