Final preparations are underway for Dundalk’s Festival of Light which will take place this Friday. There will be a parade through the town at dusk led by the Tain Chariot and followed by a wide range of groups and organisations within the town.
Meanwhile, a number of dance troupes will take the stage by storm, including Youth Groove among many others.
The event will be hosted by Michael Duffy, while street and craft markets will be erected during the festival.
It is also hoped that a number of public buildings will be illuminated with light projections.
One of the organisers, Harry Traynor said “We have a great mix for the festival, from musicians to dancers, to light shows to markets.
“There will be music at Market Square from 4pm and the procession will take place later in the evening.”
Meanwhile, Paddy Malone, Chairman of Dundalk Chamber of Commerce told the Dundalk Democrat “It is a great event following on from last years.
“It’s effectively starting Christmas off with a bang here in Dundalk. The aim of the event is to establish it as a major event in the coming years.
“Hopefully it will bring people into the town and get them spending in the town.
“It will be a great night for all the family to come into the town centre and enjoy the festivities.”
