Gardaí in Dundalk have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the murder of Seamus McMahon who was gunned down in March 2010 at Bothar Chroinn, Dundalk.
The man was arrested in Dublin this morning (Wednesday) and is currently being detained at Drogheda Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Mr McMahon was shot twice by two men who burst into a ground floor apartment in Saltown at around 7pm on March 21, 2010.
It is believed that the former Greenacres taxi driver was followed for a significant period of time before he was shot.
At the time he was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, with a suspected gunshot wound to the side. He subsequently died from his injuries.
He is survived by his former partner Bernie and their son Shane.
