The average rent for all dwellings let in County Louth in the second quarter of this year, and which were registered with the Private Residential Tenancies Board (PRTB), was €624.
That was up €7 when compared to the prevailing average rent in the second quarter of last year, when the amount was €617.
The average price a rent for all a dwelling in Dundalk in 2013 was €603.
The average for a one bed in Dundalk in the same year was €452, while the average for a two bed was €536.
Three beds were fetching €600 in 2013.
Four bedroom properties in Dundalk however were receiving €807.
Between2013 and 2012 there was actually a decrease in all rental dwelling rents from €612 in 2012, to €603 in 2013.
Exact figures for 2014for the Dundalk area are not yet available, though every indication is that rents are now on the rise. On an annual basis nationally, rents were 5.2% higher than in Q2, 2013. Nationally, rents for houses were 3.7% higher, while apartment rents were 6.9% higher than in the same quarter of 2013.
