The inaugrual meeting of the soon to be established Dundalk CFR scheme is set to take place this Wednesday, 16 April at 7.30pm at the Clan Na Gaels GAA hall on the Ecco Road.
Information on the role of first responders and volunteer application forms will be available on the night.
The move to establish a CPR scheme in Dundalk has come on the back of the success of the scheme in Haggardstown and Blackrcok.
The scheme works by having one of roughly ten volunteers to are given a phone, which emergency services ring in the case of a sudden cardiac event.
They then will get their first to apply defibrillators to the person.
The measure can be extremely successful in keeping patients alive in the first 20-30 minutes following a cardiac arrest, and can mean the difference between life and death.
The service is fully insured by the HSE, and full training will be supplied to volunteers.
Allowing for sickness and holidays, duty hours average about 36 hours per month. If you are interested, it’s a night mot be missed.
