It’s that time of year again and the 2013 Carlingford Oyster Festival promises four days of oysters, oysters, oysters and lots of fun for all the family from.

It’s that time of year again and the 2013 Carlingford Oyster Festival promises four days of oysters, oysters, oysters and lots of fun for all the family from.

The festival will take place from August 8-12 and will festure the nationally renowned ‘Carlingford Oyster Pearl’ competition, in which 12 ladies will compete for the crown in a weekend of fun filled activities.

The fun programme begins with the ‘Carlingford Oyster Pearl’ opening reception on Thursday evening and continues through the weekend with a colourful festival street market, lively street entertainment, artisan craft and food stalls and local restaurants offering delicious fishy dishes, chowders and local cuisine.

Nathan Carter is also doing a meet and greet in the village on Friday. August 9 and local business Ma Bakers are to present him with a special Wagon Wheel smoked oyster dish named after his recent smash hit song.

There will also be plenty of entertainment for the kiddies with a magic show, face painting, the Teddy Bear’s picnic, a fun fair, free kayaking and much more.
