Three Dundalk dancers are are hip-hopping their way to Las Vegas this week to represent Ireland in the 2013 World Hip Hop International Dance Championship.

Three Dundalk dancers are are hip-hopping their way to Las Vegas this week to represent Ireland in the 2013 World Hip Hop International Dance Championship.

Kelly and Lauren Muranaghan from Funky Feet and Emmanuella Salako, who heads local Crystal Ice Dance group, will battle against some of the worlds top dancing crews.

The local dancers make up the twenty member crew, each being a choreographer and dancer, are from all corners of Ireland

Speaking to the Dundalk Democrat before boarding her flight to Vegas on Friday, an excited Emmanuella said: “I feel very confident this year that we will do very well. We are dancing to “Macklemore Can’t Hold This” and we have a very strong routine in place.”

Emmanuella is no stranger to the dance stage, having participated in the event last week.The dancer has also worked alongside chart topping boy band JLS, One Direction member Niall Hoarn and Taio Cruz.

“Last year was a great experience,” Emmanuella said, “Although I feel we are better prepared this year.

Emmanuello went on to say: “The quality of the crew and the routine is excellent. It’s very creative and we have worked hard to create a winning routine. I train six to eight hours a day, go to the gym in the morning, teach classes in the afternoon and head to Dublin to train with the Irish team.”

She agreed that it is a hectic schedule but “I love what I do.”

The local hip-hop dancers will compete in the highly competitive mega crew division and will be judged on various segments through the week at the Red Rock resort in Vegas.
