A RUMOURED visit by US vice president Joe Biden, whose family hail from Co Louth, is unlikely to happen because of scheduling issues.

While his diary is currently full, it is not thought that Biden may visit Ireland, and indeed Louth, in October or November.

An Taoiseach Enda Kenny has previously confirmed that the US politician would make a voyage home in the year of the Gathering, following a meeting with him in March.

However it has been confirmed that any visit will not be happening for the time being at least.

Biden is said to immensely proud of his Irish roots and traces his Finnegan family roots to the Wee County.
