The race will follow a scenic route on the Cooley peninsula on the 16th of June at 10.30am with all proceeds raised going toward The Birches
A large number of running enthusiasts have registered for the event already.
Entry is only €15 and €8 for u16’s. Entry fee will include a commemorative technical running t-shirt, sponsorship card and post race refreshments. Unfortunately the under16’s entrants will not receive a green5km t-shirt as Small Mens is the smallest possible size.
Ronnie Murray who is organising the event said: ‘It is a comfortable course with some rolling hills however the majority being flat. Suitable for all abilities competitive athletes, fun-runners and walkers alike are welcome.’
Online entry is available through the event’s Run Ireland page at www.runireland.com/events/green-5km. For those who want to register by post download and complete the entry form www.green5km.wordpress.com/ and make cheques payable to the Birches Day Care Centre.
Registration is also available on Friday 15th, 6-8pm and on the day Saturday 16th, 8-10am. You can also like the facebook page to keep updated.
Prizes will be divided into Male and Female category with cash prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in each category kindly sponsored by Brendan Reid Sportswear & Footwear. Other prizes are sponsored by local businesses, Felda Dundalk, Haribo Ireland and Sheelan’s Shop.
Collect your race pack which will include your t-shirt and race number on Friday 15th, 6-8pm and on the day Saturday 16th, 8-10am. Registration on Saturday morning June 16th will be limited, so please arrive early.
At 10.20am runners and walkers will be directed to the start line by the marshals and the race will begin at 10:30am.
There will be refreshments available as you finish and changing and shower facilities will be available, thanks to Naomh Padraig GFC.
Entrants of all ages and abilities are welcome.
