The IBTS extended praise and thanks for long-term donors at gold drop and porcelain pelican awards ceremony

The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) held its annual gold drop and porcelain pelican awards ceremony for the north-east region in the Headfort Arms Hotel, Kells, recently.

Donors are recognised for their commitment by being awarded as follows: A silver award for 10 donations. A gold award for 20 donations. A gold drop for 50 donations and presentation at an awards dinner ceremony. A porcelain pelican for 100 donations and presentation at an awards dinner ceremony.

Awards were given to Michael Rice, Peter Carolan (100 Time Donor), John Healy Area Manager IBTS Ardee, Partick Grant, Harold McClenahan, Sean Malone, Linda Meehan Team Leader IBTS Ardee, Ita Smyth, Bob Fitzsimons. All from the Dundalk Cooley Area.

Awards were also given to donors from Mid-Louth including Sylester Levins, Peter Flanagan, Patrick Harmon, John Kerley and Nancy Conaty.

Eighty donors who had given blood 50 times received their gold drop and two 100-time donors received their porcelain pelicans at the ceremony.

Donors attended from counties Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Westmeath, north County Dublin, Kildare and Longford.
