There was a packed congregation at St Joseph’s Redemptorists Church Dundalk for 11am Mass on Sunday morning last.
The Mass was broadcast on RTE television and radio throughout the country and the world.
The celebrant was Fr Michael Cusack, CSsR Adm and the sermon was given by Fr Dan Baragry CSsR.
The choir was magnificent. It was conducted from Our Lady’s altar by Trevor Clarke. Soloist was Susan Doyle.
In his sermon, Fr Baragry spoke about the need people have for the hope and comfort of faith especially in difficult times such as the current economic climate.
He referred to the annual St Gerard’s Novena and how it attracts up to 10,000 people a day from the sessions which begin at 7am and finish with a vigil in the evening.
The prayer requests at the novena is testament to the need people have for religious faith.
The Sunday Message Mass leaflet expressed sincere thanks to all who worked so hard in preparing for the RTE braodcast.
“This is a great honour for our parish,” it said.
