After taking a well deserved break musical group SONG (Stage One New Musical Group) are back to perform at the The Lisdoo on Friday, 28th February to perform songs from numerous musicals.
2013 was a very busy and successful year for the musical group, their productions of The Pirate Queen, which took place in March last year, played to capacity audiences and won Sinead O’Callaghan the ‘Best Female Singer’ award at the AIMS Awards for her performance of Grace O’Malley.
The group were then offered the Irish Premiere of ‘Little Women’ the musical which took place in November and again was a huge success for them.
“After a long year, taking on two productions, we felt that it was time to take a break and give our cast and crew a rest!” said Terese Dunne , Director of SONG. “But once you have a bug, its hard to take a break and our cast are ready to go again”.
The group are looking forward to their return performance which will feature their award winning chorus and soloists including, Sinead O’Callaghan, Leanna Carragher, Nik Parks, Brendan Cleary and David McGahey. Also taking part in the concert will be Jackie Winkless who recently performed in both The Pirate Queen and Little Women. The concert in being presented in conjunction with Scoil Dairbhre as a joint fund raiser.
Tickets are on sale in Grants Newsagents, priced €15 each and are already are selling fast.
Terese also informs us, that SONG will be announcing their plans for the coming year on the night, including news of their next musical which will take place in early February 2015.
Terese wishes to thank all the businesses, Arts Office, patrons and councillors who have continually supported SONG over the past few years.
