A traffic calming device could lead to a fatal accident at Seatown Place - that’s the belief of one local man who has witnessed a number of near misses.
Traffic calming ‘pillows’ that have been placed on the road are causing vehicles to swing to the left to avoid the them.
The problem however is that the traffic pillow appears just metres after the parrallell cycle lane takes a sudden swing to the right.
The net effect is that vehicles are swinging to the left just as the cycle lane veers to the right.
“The local authority placed traffic calming pillows opposite Frank Lynch (Accountants) just where the cycle land merges onto the flow of traffic, “ Derek White told the Democrat.
“Cars (especially taxies) swerve to avoid the traffic calming pillows just where cyclists emerge from the cycle lane.
“I am aware of two occasions when cyclists where knocked off their bikes and it is only a matter of time before someone is badly, if not fatally injured.”
