The Nicola Barry Run for Cancer Care is an inaugural event which will take place on Sunday, October 6 in Stabannon.
This event is a 10k run and 5k fun walk that is being organised by the Stabannon Ladies GFC.
The run has been named after 25 year old Nicola Barry, who has been playing football with Stabannon Ladies GFC for a of years and was diagnosed with a brain tumour last year.
Following this shocking diagnosis, Nicola underwent surgery which removed 95% of the tumour. For nine gruelling months thereafter, Nicola underwent radiation therapy and chemotherapy.
Fortunately, Nicola received the good news in June of this year that the tumour had not spread or grown back, and has since returned to training and playing football with the Stabannon Ladies.
All of the proceeds from the run will be donated to Cancer Care charities of Nicola’s choice.
Entry costs €20 for the 10km run, €10 for the 5k walk and family entry is available for €30.
