Blackrock Village will play host to an exciting community festival in association with the Section of Music at Dundalk Institute of Technology from 2pm on Sunday 28th September.
Musicians are invited to take over the village and join with rambling musicians for sessions, a fun céilí and Samba drumming. The evening will conclude with a concert in The Secret Garden.
Students from DkIT recently travelled to Brazil promoting the region as a place to visit, do business and avail of opportunities to study at the Institute. As part of their community engagement initiatives, they are delighted to celebrate their return in Blackrock. Money raised on the day will support further extra-curricular activities at the Section of Music.
As well as the DkIT music staff, students and graduates, members of the Afghanistan Bananastand Samba Band will be on hand with a range of percussion instruments that you can try out. The Blackrock Academy of Music and local group Glaisín will also be performing while young dancers taught by Carol Leavy Joyce will be lead a fun céilí and all are welcome to try out a few steps, even if you have never danced before.
‘Reels on the Rock’ is a community event and everybody is welcome to participate, regardless of standard and age. Local businesses are participating in various ways to make it a fun day for everybody in the community.
